Exciting Book Release News For Young Athletes

Just a Couple Weeks Away!

Exciting Book Release News for Young Athletes!

The task of writing a book can be a very daunting one. In fact, it has for me and that’s why I am working on TWO! That’s right, TWO, (and I wonder why I’m so stressed out, lol)! This has been years in the making and I finally am near the finish line.

The first book, which is meant for our young athletes is just a couple weeks away from being ready for release. I am so excited to get this out for young athletes, and I know from experience this will really help them with their mental toughness and performance.

The book title is, "Finding Your Superpower as a Young Athlete: A Guide for Confidence and Mental Toughness"

The books focus is on the many skills it takes to become a mentally tough, confident and resilient young athlete. It is written in an easy-to-understand way and will be a vital tool for young athletes looking to work on their mental performance.

Much of the book talks about the creation of an Alter Ego, or Second Self, to help with the mental performance needed and how this approach is great for young athletes as it is fun, creative and easy to apply. This has been something I have worked with for years on with young all the way up to professional athletes. I truly believe it is the fastest and most effective way to turn mental struggles into victories.

I wanted to share just a short part of the book where I talk about the Alter Ego and its importance. Check it out:

Chapter 3: Creating an Alter Ego

Benefits of Using an Alter Ego

Boosted Confidence

One of the main benefits of using an alter ego is the significant boost in confidence it provides. When you step into your alter ego, you adopt a character that embodies qualities like fearlessness, confidence, determination, and self-assurance. This mental shift helps you feel more capable and ready to tackle challenges head-on. For instance, if you create an alter ego that is always confident under pressure, you can channel that confidence during crucial moments in a game, helping you perform better and believe in your abilities.

Enhanced Focus

Using an alter ego can also enhance your focus. Your alter ego is designed to be the best version of yourself, one that stays concentrated on the task at hand. When you step into this role, you train your mind to block out distractions and stay fully present. This heightened focus allows you to concentrate on your performance, execute your skills with precision, and make better decisions on the field or court. With practice, maintaining this level of focus can become second nature, improving your overall performance.

Improved Resilience

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks, and an alter ego can significantly enhance this trait. When you adopt your alter ego, you take on a mindset that views challenges and failures as opportunities to learn and grow. This helps you recover quickly from mistakes and stay motivated, even after a tough loss or a bad play. For example, if your alter ego is known for their resilience, you can channel that trait to keep pushing forward and maintain a positive attitude, no matter the circumstances.

Reduced Performance Anxiety

Performance anxiety is common among athletes but using an alter ego can help reduce this anxiety. By stepping into a powerful and confident persona, you can distance yourself from the fear of failure and the pressure to perform. This mental separation allows you to approach competitions with a calmer, more composed mindset. Knowing that your alter ego can handle any situation helps alleviate nerves and enables you to enjoy the game more, leading to better performance and a more positive experience overall.

Consistent Performance

Consistency is key to success in sports, and an alter ego can help you achieve it. By regularly stepping into your alter ego, you create a routine of excellence that you can rely on. This consistency helps you perform at a high level, game after game. For example, if your alter ego is always composed and focused, you can bring those qualities into every practice and competition, ensuring that you maintain a steady level of performance regardless of external factors.

Enhanced Enjoyment and Passion

Finally, using an alter ego can enhance your overall enjoyment and passion for your sport. When you play as your alter ego, you tap into a sense of fun and excitement. This mindset allows you to enjoy the challenges and triumphs of your sport more fully. Embracing your alter ego can reignite your love for the game, making practices and competitions something to look forward to. This increased enjoyment not only boosts your performance but also keeps you motivated and passionate about your athletic journey.

By boosting confidence, enhancing focus, improving resilience, reducing performance anxiety, ensuring consistent performance, and increasing enjoyment, an alter ego can be a powerful tool for young athletes. Incorporating this mental strategy into your routine can help you reach new levels of success and fulfillment in your sport.

I am excited to get the final touches together and get this out to our young athletes out there! This book takes our young athletes through a quick journey on to quickly gain confidence, find their true self in sport and gives the tools necessary to help them gain an Elite Mindset!

Stay resilient,

Coach Dave
